What We Believe

Mission Statement of Immanuel

“The avowed purpose of this church shall be to worship God, to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to celebrate the sacraments; to realize Christian unity within this church and the Church universal; to render loving service toward humanity; and to strive for righteousness, justice, and peace.”

Affirmation of Faith

We believe in God, the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth: and in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic (universal) church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

Biblically Centered Worship, Teaching, and Preaching

We believe that the Holy Scriptures are inspired by God and are the standard by which we have faith, Christian community, and salvation.  (Romans 1:16, 2 Timothy 3:16)  In our human fallibility we lean on the guidance of the Holy Spirit to illumine the scriptures so that we may be taught by them to grow in faith, and receive the righteousness that comes not from ourselves but from the sacrifice of Jesus Christ our Lord.

We Are In This Together

We believe that the design God gave us for humanity is to pursue the Christian life in communion and fellowship with one another. Each person brings something unique and important to the body of Christ and we are called to live out our faith together.
